Author of the Week: Morris Gleitzman
Our author of the week this week is Morris Gleitzman. Morris Gleitzman is an Australian children's author who writes about serious issues in funny and unexpected ways.
Did you know that Morris Gleitzman wrote his first children's novel in 1985? That is the same year that Miss Hines was born!
Before being a writer he had many jobs including being a paperboy, being Santa in a department store, a frozen chicken defroster and a fashion designer assistant! It just goes to show you can have many jobs before finding the one thing you really love doing!
Nga Manawa has a huge selection of Morris Gleitzman's books, come in, check them out and let us know what you think of them!

Dr Who Book Review
Look to the sky. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, its the TARDIS Flying through history! And you still think you know all of the earths history? Well... you don't. Not even you history teacher knows the truth of history. The doctor turned this book into the BBC Doctor Who A history of Humankind, The Doctors Official Guide. It is the only history book that tells you every single piece of history you can need to know to pass your history test. I can not tell you what is in it because (quoting River Song) "SPOILERS!". I would definitely recommend reading this book. I love it

Amy and Louis
Amy and Louis by Aimee Ford
I like this book because it has my name in it. My favourite part was when Amy and Louis moved far away from each other and Louis asked all of his family members "If I call Amy loudly, will she hear me?" His Grandma said yes but no-one else did. Amy had a dream that Louis called her but it wasn't a dream, it was for real!
You can check out Aimee's awesome book review outside Pohutukawa 1!

Star Wars: The Emire Strikes back: So you want to be a Jedi?
This book is not only a retelling of the famous Star Wars movie in Luke’s view, but also a book teaching you how to be a Jedi. Well, more like a Jedi without the Force. I love how the retelling of this story, and how each lesson of becoming a Jedi is more like an extension of the last. I also like the slow pace of the lessons. My favorite part is the story of the three brothers, told by an ever-loved frog creature; and my favorite lesson is, as I remember, titled: ‘Keep calm, your enemy is shooting at you’. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Star Wars.
