The Bear Under The Stairs - Book Review

This week Xavier reviewed one of his favourite books, "The Bear Under The Stairs". He said that he always reads it and it has some really funny parts but he doesn't want to spoil the book for anyone so you'll have to read it to find out! Xavier recommends that all Pohutukawa children should read this book. Ka Pai Xavier, you are a terrific Grey Main Reader!

Author of the Week - John Marsden

This week's author of the week is John Marsden. John Marsden is an Australian author who surprisingly is also a teacher and a school principal! John's books are written and aimed for mainly pre-teens and teenagers but are enjoyed around the world. His Tomorrow series is his most acclaimed and best selling work to date. (Miss Hines remembers reading them when she was a Year 6 at Paroa School and she was hooked!) Did you know that John Marsden has had his book published in 11 languages?! Nga Manawa has a wide selection of John Marsden books, so next time you are in there, check out some of his work! (Let Miss Hines know if you have read the Tomorrow series!)

Millah's Book Review - The Day The Crayon's Quit!

WOW! Have a look at Millah's fantastic book review on The Day The Crayon's Quit. Millah has done a fantastic job reviewing this book and would recommend it to anyone who is over the age of 4. Her favourite part is when the peach crayon says that he is embarrassed because Duncan peeled off his wrapper and made him naked so he couldn't get out of the box. Millah gave this book a rating of 4 out of 5. Great job Millah!
