WOW!! What an awesome turnout for Rata and Pohutukawa's Teddy Bears Picnic! The children really enjoyed reading to their Teddy's and listening to stories being read to them. We also enjoyed a treat of Fairy Bread and Tiny Teddy Biscuits!

Rick Riordan - Author of the Week
The Author of the week this week is called Rick Riordan. He has written the Percy Jackson Series, The Heroes of the Olympus Series and the Kane Chronicles series. He is a New York bestseller author. He is Probably one of my Favourite Authors. (This is Published by Finlay) I like these books because they are about Different types of gods. The Percy Jackson series and the Heroes of Olympus series are about Greek and Roman gods and The Kane Chronicles series is about the Egyptian gods. I would recommend these books to people of ages 10+ because it has a medium level of Vocabulary. I would also recommend these books to people who like gods. I have read all of these books because i am really interested in them. There is also two other series that he has written that have been released recently. The Magnus Chase series which has two books in it. This series is about Norse gods. And the Other series is called the Trials of Apollo and this series is also about Greek gods.

Author of the Week - David Shannon
David Shannon was born in Washington D.C in 1959. He liked to draw as soon as he could hold a crayon and his teachers soon learned that if they let David draw he wouldn't disrupt the class.
The first book David illustrated was How Many Spots Does a Leopard Have? (By the way Leopards have 2 spots, dark ones and light ones) He was encouraged to write his own stories and his first book was How Georgie Radbourn Saved Baseball. This was names the New York Times Best Illustrated Book in 1994.
Check out some of David's awesome books in Nga Manawa!

Book Club 2017!
Yesterday was our very first book club at Grey Main School. We have started in the senior school and had a fantastic turnout. At this stage we have 4 novels for the students to choose from and they each got to choose which one they wanted to start with and have taken that novel home to read. Already Miss Hines has heard some awesome conversations around the novel that most of the girls chose, 'Sophie Someone'.
We are all really excited to hear about the different novels and are going to meet every two weeks to discuss the themes of the novels and recommend new novels for others to read.

Totara 2 in Nga Manawa
Today Totara 2 had a very small class as some of the learners were competing at the West Coast Cross Country. T2 were lucky enough to have Nga Manawa to themselves so they relaxed and did some awesome silent reading. We are really lucky to have a great library space!
